Ingredients:
2 C. milk
2 C. water
4 T. shortening
1 1/2 T. salt
12 - 14 C. bread flour
4 T. sugar
4 cakes yeast
6 T. warm water
Preparation:
Bring milk to boiling.
Add salt and shortening and remove from heat. Add cold water.
Combine yeast, sugar, and warm water.
Pour all into mixing bowl.
Start mixer on high and add 4
C. flour-mix 3 min.
Add 3 C. flour and beat 3 min.
Stop mixer-knead in 2-4 C. more flour for 5 min. until smooth.
Divide into 2 or 3 pans, and place in cold oven.
Turn oven to bake at 400 for 1 minute.
Turn oven off for 30 min.
Turn on again to 400 for 1 hour.
Do not open oven until nearly done.
